Deceased 12-year-old pupil did not have COVID-19

It is still unknown what caused the death of a 12-year-old pupil at Kokosi Primary School in Fochville. The Grade 7 pupil, who died on Thursday, tested negative for COVID-19.

This has been revealed by the Gauteng health department. Ben Thokozani Thafeni was not feeling well at school, his temperature was checked and he was put in isolation.

He was rushed to a nearby clinic but was certified dead on arrival. The Education Department and the province’s health department have launched an investigation into the incident.
