An excellent career opportunity for a motivated and dedicated individual exists in the Finished Goods Warehouse and Distribution Department. This position reports to the General Manager. The role will be responsible for the management of the entire Despatch function through the receipt, storage and distribution of finished goods, and pallets. This is done to ensure client satisfaction through delivering products on time and in full.
Responsibilities:
Distribution
Management of the distribution function pertaining to finished goods.
Managing of the transport suppliers’ contract as well as outside transport contractors to maximise utilisation and minimise costs. Ensuring the optimal utilisation of available fleet.
Liaising with all relevant stakeholders – both internal and external – to ensure on-time-in-full delivery.
Ensure client satisfaction and building the APL-signature brand.
Ensure full adherence to authorised BOP’s (e.g. POD recon, Despatch Notes, SCT processes).
Manage and plan daily deliveries to meet customer demands/requirements ensuring fast and efficient service to all customers.
Manage, plan and resolve the daily flagging meeting requirements.
Stock Management: Finished Goods
Management of on-site and off-site warehouses and stock movement (receipts, storage and distribution).
Ensure efficient and accurate receipt of outsourced products.
Ensure compliance and adherence to the customer quality return procedures.
Arranging & overseeing stock takes and cycle counts (on and off-site warehouses).
Ensure full adherence to authorised BOP’s
Monitoring and subsequent reporting of stock ageing, left behinds, stock rotation and FIFO in support of the company’s working capital strategy.
Ensuring that stock storage in all warehouses adheres to the relevant legal and safety regulations.
Ensure efficient and correct stock receipts from production and the maintenance of accurate bin/location movements.
Pallet Management
Manage Pallet Warehouse, reorder policy, stock levels and purchasing.
Arrange upliftment from customers and credit process.
Manage Pallet Repairs Contractor.
Arranging & overseeing stock takes.
People Management
Lead, control and manage the performance of subordinates to maximise employee morale and productivity.
Managing time and attendance, disciplines and day-to-day issues.
Manage the training and development of subordinates, to ensure optimal performance.
Ensure an effective service to customers as well as fostering a positive work attitude among team members.
General
Ensuring full compliance to all relevant ISO, legal and safety guidelines and requirements, including FSC systems.
Housekeeping – maintain & improve standards.
Management reporting for areas of responsibility.
Master Data Management – Syspro and WMS.
NCA and Quality Management Process.
Continuous Improvement.
Internal Audits
Ah hoc tasks as directed by the General Manager.
The ideal candidate should (have/be):
Logistics/Supply Chain diploma or equivalent
Have at least 3 years’ relevant management/supervisory experience in a Warehousing/Logistics/Distribution field.
Have at least 3 years’ experience in Warehousing/Logistics/Distribution systems
Problem-solving skills (Analytical & Creative Thinking Skill)
Excellent leadership and people management skills: working with own and other teams to achieve maximum efficiency and organisational goals
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong administration skills and be computer literate
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
Reliable with good work ethics and execute with attention to detail
Proactive with the aim to continuously improve all outputs
