Mamelodi Sundowns To Welcome New Goalkeeper

Mamelodi Sundowns will have a packed goalkeeper department next season, as they will soon welcome two new signings to the club.

Jody February, who’d already signed for Sundowns from Ajax Cape Town at the beginning of the current campaign, will join up with the Brazilians at the end of season after his loan stint with Cape Umoya United comes to an end.

The 24-year-old will join a long list of both young and experienced goalkeepers, namely, Denis Onyango, Kennedy Mweene, Reyaad Pieterse, Abram Ngcobo and Ricardo Goss who recently signed from Bidvest Wits.

While he will in no doubt face tough competition for a spot in Head Coach Pitso Mosimane’s side, February is nonetheless looking forward to his future at the Chloorkop-based club.

“Look, it really felt good to sign for a big team like Sundowns because knowing that one of the big teams is after your signature is a good thing and a sign that you are a good player. It shows that my hard work has paid off for them to recognise my talent. They are one of the best teams in the country and I just have to repay their faith in me when I get there. I must not just add numbers. I am really happy that I got a call from them to sign for the club and I am looking forward to starting my career there,” February said in an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma this week.

On how his move to Sundowns came about, the keeper explained, “To be honest with you, I never really knew anything until the beginning of the transfer window. I was told by Ajax that they were in negotiations for my services with Sundowns. It finally happen on the last day of the transfer window and I was very happy when it happened.”
