The total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in South Africa has topped 600,000, while recoveries have topped 500,000.
The Health Department reported 225 new COVID-19 related deaths in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll to 12,843.
Eighty-one patients died in KwaZulu-Natal, 57 in the Eastern Cape, 46 in Gauteng, 25 in the Western Cape, 10 in North West and 6 in the Northern Cape.
Close to 3,400 new cases confirmed from the 24,000 test results included in the latest report.
The recovery rate is holding steady at 82%.
