Job Description:
As a Metallurgical Technical Engineer you will be responsible to provide technical support to the Plant Manager/Technical Manager to optimise and continually improve the Technical operation of a plant. You will ensure technical audit of the plant is conducted to required standards for plant improvement.
Your additional responsibilities will include:
Assist in scheduling of tasks for the team
Calling out specialist expertise when technical problems occur
Changing technical parameters to minimise the effect of unexpected problems
Monitor, Trend, Interpret, and Report plant Key Process Parameters for discussion with central technical structure
Conduct technical reviews and capacity studies on process equipment and plant sections
Application of best practice principles in process safety
Stopping the operation if the working conditions are unsafe
Troubleshoot and resolve operation problems within plant operating “recipe”
Ongoing support to plant production team to achieve operational goals
Provide detailed analyses of process control/plant performance relationships
Identifying employees suitable for further technical training
This role is on a Band 6 and will report to Plant Production Manager/Technical Manager.
You should have the following experience:
5 years or more post qualification experience in technical management of metallurgy processes or development projects
Experience with metallurgical smelting or refining operations will be advantageous.
Experience with second generation autoclaves or POX autoclaves will be highly advantageous.
Qualifications:
You should have:
A Degree in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
Post graduate qualification will be advantageous
Valid driving license code B or EB
Knowledge and Skills required:
Good technical ability
Good technical report writing and presentation skills
Computer skills for role including data evaluation in numeric processing software (e.g. Excel)
Understanding of change management principles
Sound understanding of mass and energy balance principles
Base understanding of business case development
Good technical understanding of Process control systems
