Four suspects are expected in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court on Friday in connection with the discovery of human bones, found in a backyard in Olievenhoutbosch on Tuesday.
The suspects were arrested after one of them came forward and allegedly confessed.
The police said one set of remains has already been identified.
Some of the bodies are believed to have been buried as far back as 2017.
Police spokesperson Mathapelo Peters said a confession is good enough.
“Like I said, the preliminary processes of the investigation involved taking statements. We do believe that by 48 hours we should have a concrete case that can be prosecutable in court.”
The forensics team has hit another snag as community members have demanded a traditional cleansing ceremony before the remains can be removed for forensic analysis and investigation.
Tenants living in the yard have asked for temporary accommodation as the gruesome scene has left them traumatized.
