Twenty-three Sassa officials and beneficiaries have appeared in the Nelspruit Regional Court for allegedly defrauding the social security agency.
It’s believed the suspects were making false disability grant claims. The suspects would then withdraw the funds paying just a small portion to the recruits.
Their case has been postponed to 4 September. Meanwhile, three other people stand accused of hacking into the Sassa system.
They have been remanded in custody and will apply for bail on Friday.
