Expecting mothers at Mazabuka General Hospital sharing beds

Expecting women at Mazabuka General Hospital are sharing single hospital beds while others are sleeping on the floor as they await treatment according to a report Byta FM.
Relatives looking after the women have expressed concern with overcrowding at the wards.
Mary Habanyama of Lubombo area has complained about the situation at at the hospital describing it as unacceptable.

Another company concerned woman, Ruth Mweene said the ward had been overcrowded since the admission of her daughter on Saturday and has since called on the management to create more bed spaces for expecting mothers.
Meanwhile, Mazabuka General Hospital Superintendent, Dr. Michael Mbelenga acknowledged the development saying the facility has recorded a number of patients in the maternity ward.
Dr. Mbelenga, however, says the management is addressing the situation to ensure maternal healthcare is delivered in a good environment.
