Another one of our favourite stars has found himself in the GBV hot water this week, and this time around, it is none other than the Orlando Pirates super striker, Thembinkosi Lorch.
Lorch, known for playing the mid-fielder position in the team, was handcuffed on Sunday night after the victim reported the attack to the police. It’s understood the incident happened at an apartment in Midrand on Sunday.
Lorch was arrest on Monday morning and released on R2 000 bail in the afternoon but he was kept at the Midrand police station until he was discharged on Monday afternoon following the bail payment.
Orlando Pirates released a statement saying that the law must take its course after the arrest. In a statement, The Buccaneers say they strongly condemns violence against women and children, but are not in a position to comment on the matter because it’s a police investigation.
“This matter is currently in the hands of the authorities. As a club we cannot comment further except to say that we condemn all forms of violence, especially violence against women and children,” the Buccaneers said in a statement.
“We support the rights of each and every individual, but we strongly condemn violence. This country has witnessed some of the most appalling cases of GBV and we do not take this matter lightly, however we need to respect the process undertaken by the authorities and allow the law to take its course.” – They continued.
