Bheki Mlangeni Hospital CEO placed under precautionary transfer

The Gauteng health department has placed the CEO of the Bheki Mlangeni Hospital, Ruth Mabyana under precautionary transfer.

The Gauteng health department says the CEO is allegedly implicated in a case of misconduct.

The health department has moved Mabyana to the district office. She will remain there while her conduct is investigated.

“There is a need to urgently resolve the broader challenges at Bheki Mlangeni Hospital and restore the confidence of the community in the facility’s capacity to continue providing much-needed healthcare services,” said Acting Gauteng Heath MEC, Jacob Mamabolo Makabedi Makhetha will be acting in the position.

The hospital has been in the spotlight this week after a 16-year-old psych patient was allegedly raped by another patient.
