Motorists can expect permanent roadblocks. This is according to Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula and comes as road safety campaigns intensify.
“We are going to intensify the campaign. There will be permanent roadblocks in the hotspots,” Mbalula said.
Mbalula has joined operations in Mpumalanga on the N4 near Belfast to check on motorist compliance.
The minister and Mpumalanga premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane handed over 60 new vehicles to the province.
Mbalula says while no restrictions have been placed on travelling, those who are on the move must comply with the rules of the road.
“Those who are found with alcohol without any merit of license… it will be confiscated and they will face the consequences,” Mbalula said.
