Taps have been dry in several areas, west and south of the Durban CBD, for days.
These areas include Chatsworth, Shallcross, and Washington Heights.
Despite this, Chairperson for Human Settlements and Infrastructure, Councillor Thanduxolo Sabelo insists they are on top of the situation.
“Our calculations from the onset were definitely on top of the situation so it’s not that we just, out of the blue, decided that 90 tankers would be enough. We had made calculations, and we believed that this number would be enough,” Sabelo said.
Meanwhile, residents have accused the city of not doing enough.
They say, hundreds of people have gathered at the few tankers in the area putting them at risk of contracting COVID-19.
