Some conspiracy theorists have linked 5G technology to the outbreak of COVID-19. However, Professor, Salim Abdool Karim, Chairperson of the Ministerial Advisory Committee on COVID-19 says these are just myths.
Karim says there is no scientific link between 5G and the coronavirus of any kind. This was an issue when we were dealing with the coronavirus pandemic back in May, June last year,” says Abdool Karim.
“It went viral in the USA because people were arguing that these 5G towers were the new things being built, and that’s what’s causing the virus,” he adds.
“There is no link, whatsoever, between anything your cellphone does and any waves it uses, and this coronavirus pandemic,” he says.
