Legendary jazz musician and political activist Jonas Gwangwa will be laid to rest on Friday after a special provincial funeral in Johannesburg.
Gwagwa died at the age of 83 last week, two weeks after the death of his wife, Violet Gw . The trombone player is known for hit songs such as Batsumi, among others.
He was awarded the Order of Ikhamanga for his contribution to music and his anti-apartheid activism.
He passed away on the third anniversary of the death of fellow jazz legend Hugh Masekela and Zimbabwean musician Oliver Mtukudzi.
