There have been 1,637 new COVID-19 cases that have in South Africa in the last 24 hours.
That brings the total number of confirmed coronavirus cases in the country to 1,572,985.
Sadly 71 more people have died from the virus.
The death toll has now risen to 54,066.
The recovery rate remains high at 95-percent.
There just 19,809 active cases nationwide.

In other news – AKA finally speaks out on Nelli Tembe’s death
Rapper “AKA” (Kiernan Forbes) has finally broken his silence on the death of his fiancée Anele “Nelli” Tembe. Speaking about his heartbreak and the toll on him “emotionally and psychologically”.
Nelli died on April 11 after apparently falling from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub hotel in Cape Town. At the time of her death, those close to AKA said he was beside himself with grief and had sought counselling. Learn More
