At least 21 more people in South Africa have died due to COVID-19.
This brings the total death toll to 53,757.
The health department said 744 new infections have been reported in the last 24 hours.
The number of active cases in the country is nearly 22,900.
Nearly half of these cases are in the Western Cape and KwaZulu-Natal.
