The South African Medical Association says it’s worried about the private sector’s ability to vaccinate people quickly and effectively.
Several private hospitals and clinics are being used as vaccination sites.
“Although we have increased the sites from 87 to 122, it didn’t make a huge impact on the daily numbers of people being vaccinated, it is still more or less just under 40,000 per day,’ said Sama Chairperson Angelique Coetzee.
South Africa is in Phase 2 of its vaccine rollout campaign and has received over a million jabs so far.
