Former Public Enterprises Minister, Malusi Gigaba says the Guptas were constantly name-dropping which made him uncomfortable.
He says this led him to distance himself from the family for a while.
Gigaba was testifying at the State Capture Inquiry.
Gigaba previously told the commission that the Guptas were his friends and that he attended social and cultural functions with them.
Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa will testify next month on dates still to be determined.
