Motsoaledi Setumo (born 15 April 1991 in Kagiso) is a South African actress and radio producer. She gained prominence for playing the recurring role of Thabitha Cele in Generations: The Legacy.,

Many viewers love Thabi, a raunchy lady who got involved in a bondage scene that involved a candle wax in the SABC1 soapie.

This role is credited with her debut appearance on screen as an actress in 2015. Before she could land the role, Setumo was present for the audition thrice, never give up, huh.

Background

She was born Motsoaledi Kgothatso Elna Setumo on 15 April 1991 into the family of Glenda Setumo and Johnny Setumo. Her parents had only her as their child. 

They raised their lovely daughter in Kagiso township, Johannesburg, Gauteng. Sometime in the past, she shared that acne almost made her give up acting.

Speaking from past experiences, she shared with fans that “people with skin diseases do not need to be always reminded about it”.

Family

At the age of 8, her mother was involved in a car accident that left her quadriplegic. After the unfortunate incident, she had to move to her relatives to await her mother’s recovery.

Sadly in December 2019, her mother died. A few years earlier, when she was six, her parents got divorced.

She had her academic pursuit at the Boston Media House. At the high institution, she studied Media Studies and specialized in Radio Broadcasting for two years (2011-2013). 

Career

Many know her for appearing in the cast of the SABC1 soap opera Generations: The Legacy as Thabitha “Thabi” Cele.

In 2016, she landed a starring role in the Mzansi Magic telenovela Greed & Desire as Tselane Dlamini. She played the role for a year and left in 2017. 

In 2018, She was cast as Mmabatho, another recurring role, on The Queen, an Mzansi Magic soap opera. She made her debut on the show on 18 January 2018 in season 2, episode 124.
