Max Mqadi thanks Durban Metro Police for saving his life

UMlazi businessman Max Mqadi, the owner of Max’s Lifestyle entertainment lounge, thanked Durban Metro Police for the “key role” its members played in saving his life.

Mqadi was shot in his venue’s car park more than a week ago while trying to get into his car.

“On behalf of the Max’s Lifestyle Village Family, we write this letter to express our deepest and heartfelt gratitude to the management of the Durban Metro Police after your members played a key role in saving the life of Mr Max Mqadi, the owner and founder of our Umlazi-based, internationally recognised restaurant,” stated a letter published on social media yesterday by the operation’s public relations division.

The letter, signed by Mqadi, stated that after he was shot by two unknown gunmen, he managed to drive himself from uMlazi to the Durban city centre where he stumbled upon metro police.

He told them he had been shot and asked them to escort him to the hospital.

After spending a few days in hospital, Mqadi was discharged.

“It is not an act of exaggeration to assert that Mr Mqadi is today counting his blessings and appreciating the invaluable gift of life because of the selfless devotion of your members to their calling. In a situation of life and death, every decision you take counts,” it said.

Max’s Lifestyle Village family thanked the Metro Police members from Mort region, section: Rapid response B20EI, which includes S Maphumulo, Z Mdlalose, A Majola, Z Mthimkhulu, A Mseleku and N Ngcobo, for their timely intervention.

“Your gesture has not only given us hope for the future, but it has also reaffirmed our undying belief in the resilience of the human spirit. May you continue to, in a world faced with many challenges, be a beacon of hope and a source of inspiration to all the residents of the greater Durban (area). We look forward to continue working with you to serve the people of our beautiful city,” said the letter.
