UCT’s Mamokgethi Phakeng calls on public to locate 14-year-old Maths genius

A viral video of a young boy rocked the internet in the past few days where he is seen quizzed when it comes to solving mathematics solutions, but the 14-year-old easily gave the correct answers.

Following the clip that was seen on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter, the clip has also attracted the attention of University of Cape Town.

UCT Vice Chancellor Mamokgethi Phakeng has called on the public to help her find the unnamed young man.

It seems the boy has already booked a seat at the Mother City-based higher education institution.

According to various media outlets, the boy is identified as Sibahle Zwane probably from KwaZulu-Natal and Phakeng has offered to fund the boy’s studies.

“Help me get the details of this brilliant math genius, I’d like to help him study at @UCTOnlineHigh School. His talent cannot be passed by,” wrote Phakeng.

Kaya 959 reports that the Vice-Chancellor wants the boy to access to good education and Phakeng wants to help the boy with his studies at UCT’s Online High School to be able to change his world.

The clip was circulated by Africa Facts Zone and the boy displayed his multiplication skills in the video, wowing many people online with his mental maths skills.

Although there’s no indication where Sibahle is from, but anyone with information on the boy is urged to contact Prof. Phakeng who wants to honour her promise to him.
