Cristiano Ronaldo left Manchester united friendly with Rayo Vallecano early, intensifying the scrutiny over his Old Trafford future, according to reports.
He played the first 45 minutes of Sunday’s friendly against Rayo Vallecano but was the only player to be substituted off by manager Erik ten Hag at halftime.
The reported early exit comes amid uncertainty over his Old Trafford future with Ronaldo wanting out of the club as United have no champions league football this season.
The forward received a rapturous reception from United fans in attendance but he looked glum as he briskly made his way to his car.
Ten Hag did not address the matter after the game as the club had already decided prior that the Dutchman would not hold a post-match press conference and he was not quizzed on Ronaldo’s reported early exit in his only post-match interview with the club’s in-house TV station, MUTV.
The report adds that the club declined to comment when asked if Ronaldo had permission to leave the stadium before the end of the match.
The early departure at least until United offers clarity on the situation is only going to re-stoke the flames that Ronaldo is still pushing to leave the club.
