Nicki Minaj drops Freaky Girl Roman remix

The Barbz are eating good as Nicki Minaj has now dropped an extended version of “Super Freaky Girl” with fan-favorite alter ego Roman.

“Super Freaky Girl (Roman Remix)” arrived Thursday (Aug. 16) and has the Queens rapper’s additional verse shouting out her old label YMCMB and brags about her mixtape sales. Nicki dropped “Super Freaky Girl” Friday (Aug. 12) which contains the sample from Rick James’ 1981 “Super Freak.” Earlier today, Nicki tweeted at fans saying how thankful she was that the single has already sold over 100,000 units since its release last Friday.

“So grateful omg thank you guys,” the rapper wrote in a quote tweet from chart data.

Although there is no official release date for a new album from Nicki, she has been very active this year. She dropped two songs with Lil Baby “Do We Have A Problem” and “Bussin” as well as a Fivio Foreign-assisted track “We Go Up.” She also appeared on Coi Leray’s “Blick Blick.”

She’s also putting together a performance of fan-favorite hits likely to also include “Super Freaky Girl” and presumably has a new album on the way. Even without the album, she’s got plenty of irons in the fire; a docuseries about her life and career, Nicki, has a yet-to-be-announced release month pinned down, and she’s once again recording her queen radio podcast.

Tucked into the song’s final moments are some lyrics that have already started receiving attention, with Nicki/Roman moving from a Myers reference to a reflection on a 15-year career, as follows:

“Don’t nobody wanna hear that weak shit, ho
In the game, fifteen, ain’t peak yet, ho
Tell that goofy get a chair, she was cocky, I could swear
‘Til my old tape sold more than your album, drop a tear”

The song continues to earn more success and Super Freaky Girl (Roman Remix) currently holds all four spots on US iTunes charts.
