Gerard Pique has said that enough is enough and he has decided to send an official statement to the media, doing so through his lawyers.
In it, he has called for his privacy to be respected, criticizing certain domestic and international outlets and the paparazzi’s harassment of him and his family. He has warned that he’ll even take legal action if they don’t stop.
The statement through his legal representatives reads “Since Shakira and Gerard Pique announced their separation on June 4 in a joint statement, many rumors and unverified information have been disseminated about the player, his family, and his private personal life.”
He added: “These reports and photos not only destroy the player’s honor and image, but they are a grappling attack on his rights and children’s rights, safety and protection, and represent a significant threat, and at the same time, some media and yellow newspapers continue to be directed for the purposes of eating his children, his family, and his very close environment.”
“Gerard Pique has always respected the work of the media and their right to know and inform, and he is fully aware of their founding role in our society, and despite this, many of these media interfere in his life and go beyond his legal limits, and therefore our client (Pique) is forced to take preventive measures. and to initiate legal action against those who threaten his family’s life and violate the rights of his children, whose only concern is their safety and security, Gerard Pique.
The statement concluded: “Our client (Pique) wants to thank all the media outlets that respected his rights and is confident that all these issues will be resolved in an optimal manner.”
The footballer has been in the headlines non-stop since he and Shakira announced on June 4 that they were splitting up after 12 years together.
Since then, there have been various reports about the pair, the custody of their children, and the player’s new life with his new girlfriend.
