Multiple award-winning rapper and producer Kanye took to his social media platform to reveal what he thinks of Wizkid and tems hit song ‘Essence.’ In a post on his social media platform today, Sunday, September 4, 2022, Kanye West called Wizkid’s hit song ‘Essence,’ which dominated the charts worldwide, the best song in the history of music to date.
“Best song in the history of music to date,” he wrote next to a screenshot of him listening to the track on Apple Music.

Released in October 2020 as the fourth single from WizKid’s Made In Lagos album, “Essence” went on to become a global hit. In the U.S., the sensual collaboration debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard Hot 100, becoming the first Nigerian song in history to appear on the chart.
Despite losing out at the 2022 grammy award the song won various other awards and has since been certified double platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). An official remix featuring Justin Bieber was later released, while DaBaby also put his spin on the afrobeat record.
Kanye west joins the list of A-list entertainers who have publicly commended the song.
Wale, the Nigerian-American rapper, had argued that the project should have won “multiple awards” at the 2022 Grammy Awards.
Nicki Minaj, the Trinidadian-born rapper, also claimed the song deserves to be the song of the year at this year’s Grammys.
While speaking to Rolling Stone in August 2021 Wizkid recalled working on his album. He said that his manager Jada Pollock and production manager Mutay Oniko came up with the sound of the music.
