Lemons (Lemonade), featuring Nasty C, was released by the award-winning rapper to remind Mzansi and his fans that he is still good at what he does.
“We started talking about a year ago, just you know, hey, hi, how are you doing, what’s going on?” He said. The Supa Mega stated that he has been noticing the work Nasty C has been doing in the USA and he has been following his music career. “I see what he’s been doing in the State, you know really following his career,” he added.
Speaking to a podcast ‘The Episode’, AKA revealed that Lemons Lemonade has been in the works for a year, and when he first presented the concept to Nasty C, the Durban rapper was not impressed. The Supa Mega went to say that he had to work hard to put Nasty C in a position where he felt comfortable in order to get the most out of him in order to perfect the track.
“I just said, man, I really need a record with Nasty C and the song came along,” he said. “By the way, Lemons Lemonade is like a year old, I’ve been making the song for a year, a lot of songs sit for a year, some songs sit for two years like Caiphus Songs sat for like two years before I finished it. Some songs like All Eyes On Me take three days, so it’s all about the process.”
He added; “I reached out to him, and at first he wasn’t too keen on it, but for me, it was about getting him into a space that he doesn’t really or a sonic space that it doesn’t really exist in the match and asking him to do something that he doesn’t really do often and to go to a different place and that place he went to its fantastic.”
Nasty C on working with Both AKA and Cassper Nyovest:
The Black and White hitmaker has spoken out about the beef between AKA and Cassper Nyovest, which nearly brought the hip-hop industry to its knees.
The Rapper was recently interviewed on the podcast The Episode and asked about making music with both rappers.
“They’re like, ‘what’s it like having songs with both these guys?’ I said, Yo, the track with Cassper and Anatii was dope because it was like we were just vibing. It was at a hotel. We were just vibing.”
“Then with AKA there was a little bit of tension…like what are we doing, are we rapping?” he said, describing collaborating with the artist.
The rapper explained that his wish to collaborate on a song with AKA without any tension was granted when they worked on Lemons(Lemonade).
“I was like I wish one day we can just make a fun song and there it goes, now we have it,” he said.
