Few Days after a fellow celebrity called her out for remaining publicly silent in the face of antisemitic comments made by her former husband Kanye West, Kim Kardashian has released a statement condemning hate speech.
In a tweet, the reality star and business mogul condemned hate speech and said that she stands with the Jewish community.
“Hate speech is never OK or excusable,” her statement read. “I stand together with the Jewish community and call on the terrible violence and hateful rhetoric towards them to come to an immediate end.”
west who has previously talked about suffering from bipolar disorder has been criticized for continuously defending his hateful remarks about Jewish people, including the anti-Semitic trope that they control the media and other industries.
A number of brands have cut ties with West, including fashion house Balenciaga, while Vogue has reportedly said it has no intention of working with him again.
Meanwhile, Adidas said it was putting its partnership with West “under review” after he debuted White Lives Matter T-shirts at Paris Fashion Week earlier this month.
“Drink Champs” host N.O.R.E. has since apologized for the interview, telling Hot97’s Peter Rosenberg, “I have a relationship with Ye. When he was going through a lot of things he was going through, he would call me and he would actually listen to me and take my advice. So I felt I could control the situation. I felt that I could control the interview and learned early on that I didn’t.”
Other members of the Kardashian/Jenner family have also shared sentiments supporting the Jewish community. Kim’s mother Kris Jenner and sisters Khloe Kardashian, Kendall Jenner, and Kylie Jenner all shared coordinated posts simply stating, “I support my Jewish friends and the Jewish people.”
