The Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film was released in theatres worldwide over the weekend and was a box office success.
However, die-hard comic fans took to Twitter and trended the #RecastTChalla hashtag.
According to the fans, the absence of the main character in the film created a gap in the plot.
Chadwick Boseman, who died of cancer two years ago, played the superhero Black Panther in the Marvel Universe. Fans were outraged that Boseman’s real-life untimely death was woven into the plot of the sequel film.
Fans argued that the comic-book franchise was bigger than the actors’ personal lives and that the story’s integrity should be persevered.
Some tweeps mentioned in the heated trending debate that Boseman did such a great job playing T’Challa that a new actor taking over from him would be jarring to viewers.
