As Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo continues to top Twitter trends following his outburst and mistreatment at the club, his former boss has spoken highly regarding his conduct.
Jose Morais, who was Jose Mourinho’s assistant coach at Real Madrid, stated that Ronaldo is down to earth and he is one of the most sensible individuals he has ever met.
Speaking to A Bola, Morais was sharing his thoughts regarding the ongoing spat between Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag and the former Madrid star, Ronaldo.
In an interview with British television host, Piers Morgan, Ronaldo lashed out at the club, Manchester United, alleging that he is mistreated and doesn’t respect manager ten Hag.
The interview has ruffled feathers around the world where some legends shared contrasting remarks on the Portuguese star, Ronaldo.
“I don’t have respect for him [ten Hag] because he doesn’t show respect for me. Some people, don’t want me here – not only the coach but the other two or three guys. Not only this year but last year too,” said Ronaldo.
Following Ronaldo’s sentiments, some legends insist he wants to leave the English Premier League club, Manchester, while some reports have surfaced that the club has held a crisis meeting, and topping the agenda is that Ronaldo might be axed.
“Working with Cristiano was one of the best moments I have had as a coach. He is a fantastic person and a stratospheric player,” Morais said.
“I don’t say “UFO” because he is a human being. He would be more of a “Human of Unidentified Characteristics”. Such is the enormity of his ability and talent.
“To have a player like him is to be a blessed coach. Cristiano is, without a doubt, a sensible and down-to-earth person.”
After spending three seasons coaching Ronaldo in the Spanish La Liga with Madrid, Morais saw the seasoned talisman netting a record 168 goals.
Reflecting on Ronaldo’s current situation in England under the Dutch boss, ten Hag, Morais said: “I’m just saying that you have to be a special coach to train special players.
“Being a special coach implies knowing how to deal with situations like the one that is happening. Positive communication.
“The establishment of trust depends on factors that relate to the individual’s personal development. The best coach is better able to deal with these situations.”
During the interview, the former UEFA Champions League winner with Madrid, Ronaldo, also urged the fans to continue their protest against current owners, the Glazers.
“The fans, they’re always right. I think the fans should know the truth – should now that the players…we want the best for the club – I love this club,” he continued in the interview.
“You have some things inside the club which don’t help Manchester (United) reach the top level as City, Liverpool, and even now Arsenal, for example…which is complicated, it’s difficult.”
