Mzansi’s Kamo Mphela bags a spot in 2023 #YoutubeBlack Voices

As per the latest information coming through to Entertainment SA, South African musician Kamo Mphela is set to be part of the 2023 #YouTubeBlack Voices.

The event and Mphela’s inclusion was declared on Tuesday by #YouTubeBlack Voices as the company seeks to step up efforts to help creators and the creative economy in the continent.

Known for her talents in the Amapiano genre, musician and dancer Kamo, has grabbed a front-row seat in next year’s #YouTubeBlack Voices artists.

The three-year-old project, #YouTubeBlack Voices, is a continuation of a global, multi-year pledge made in 2020 to support and advance black creators, artists, songwriters, and producers on the platform.

40 African producers including Mphela will be among the 135 #YouTubeBlack Voices creators chosen internationally.

“We are thrilled about the creators, musical artists, and producers from Africa joining others from around the world in the 2023 #YouTubeBlack Voices fund,” stated Alex Okosi, managing director: of emerging markets, YouTube EMEA.

“The initiative is dedicated to equipping up-and-coming black creators and artists with the resources to succeed on our platform.”

With the aid of a YouTube partner manager, the musicians, composers, and producers who will make up the #YouTubeBlack Voices Class of 2023, are expected to set objectives, create content strategies, and interact with followers on YouTube.

In addition, the artists will also be able to get a chance to network and work with other creatives included in the #YouTubeBlack Voices fund.

“We are seriously interested in the growth of the creative community in Africa. For the creators, artists, songwriters, and producers that will be joining this third cohort, we will go beyond the initial training to measure our success with them over a long-term period, thereby ensuring that they achieve sustained success,” said Okosi.

Meanwhile, Entertainment SA recently reported that don’t you just love how Mzansi singer and performer, Mphela takes over the scene every time she drops new music?

Her style is quite different and she seems to be riding in her own lane.

In 2020, when the track Amanikiniki was dropped, a lot of people thought it was going to be forgotten in a week or two.

At the time, the song had 27,531,691 views on Youtube and the numbers kept growing daily – making it one of the biggest songs to be produced in 2020.
