RIP:DJ Sumbody, a music producer and Amapiano pioneer, has died

Oupa John Sefoka passed away early this morning in Johannesburg.

His family says more details about his death are unknown, but unconfirmed reports indicate he was shot and killed.

On Sunday, Sefoka was scheduled to perform at the All White Veuve Clicquot Picnic.

A third person, believed to be DJ Sumbody’s second bodyguard, was rushed to hospital in critical condition after being shot multiple times in the solar plexus, according to a Sandton police officer who did not want to be identified because he is not allowed to speak to the media.

He was the brains behind Mashaedi on the Engage, which aired on Tshwane.

In 2018, the celebrated Deejay released the song Monate Mpolaye, which quickly became popular and gained national attention.

He has also released several albums that have received positive reviews and contributed to his musical success. Larger Than House (Vol. 1 & 2) and Ashi Nthwela are two of his albums.

This is a developing story, and more details will be added as they become available.
