Robert Marawa owes the bank over 1 million in balloon payments

Robert Marawa, 49-year-old TV personality, is reportedly having difficulty repaying a six-figure loan. The award-winning sports personality has been brought before the Pretoria High Court for failing to make the R1 million balloon payment for his car.

Mercedez-Bens was granted a court order in August to cancel the agreement and repossess the car, according to court documents obtained by City Press. The dealership was also granted permission to apply for an order to obtain any outstanding loan balances following the resale of the car.

Marawa purchased the luxury vehicle in November 2018 for R1 431 304, which has since increased to R2 141 370, 30 due to the balloon payment and zero deposit paid upfront. He has since failed to make the R1 097 986,96 payment that was due on December 21, 2021.

The former SuperSport presenter paid nearly R29,000 per month in 36 monthly instalments and was left with the balloon payment in December 2021. He then asked the dealership to refinance the balloon payment, but the bank refused.
