Revered South African actress Connie Ferguson is speechless after receiving a stunning portrait from Netflix SA in honour of her late husband, Shona.
Connie Ferguson says she is humbled to receive such a beautiful piece of work from the digital streaming platform Netflix SA.
As the owner of Ferguson Films which produces The Queen among other television productions, the seasoned actress Connie, says the painting captures Shona Ferguson’s essence.
Connie and Shona Ferguson were married for almost two decades but her husband, also an actor, succumbed to Covid-19-related complications in July last year.
The former Generations star who played the role of Karabo Moroka headed online to thank Netflix SA for the painting that was created by talented artist John Adams who is seen in a video working on the artwork.
“Netflix SA, I really have no words! Thank you for honouring #kingSHO in such a special, meaningful way,” Connie wrote on Instagram.
“The tribute painting really captures his essence and his presence was strong at the #netflixsummer celebration!@johnjadamsfit. You sir are super talented Thank you for this beautiful painting of the most amazing human I’ve ever known! It truly is special, and the best gift to me and my family.
“Bless you and bless you.”
Former The Queen and Generations: The Legacy actor Zolisa Xaluva is one of Shona Ferguson’s colleagues who shared the stage with him in Kings of Jozi.
The duo played the role of brothers in the production as Masire brothers and Xaluva previously shared a fond memory of the late businessman and actor, Shona.
“It’s at times like these I miss this guy. He would always say: ‘For each hater, you have 1,000 people who love you. Embrace their love,” he wrote.
“Throw away the hate.’ Thanks to my loyal family. My supporters. My friends. Let’s keep going.”
