Vogue sues Drake and 21 Savage for a phoney magazine cover

According to a source close to Drake, his team is both surprised and perplexed by the lawsuit, given that so many other organisations, including Howard Stern and NPR’s Tiny Desk series, have happily jumped on board and had fun with it, the source revealed to TMZ.

It is said that Drake’s attorney, Larry Stein, did not have a comment regarding the matter.

If Vogue has its way, Drake and 21 Savage’s hot new album, “Her Loss,” will be their loss in court — the magazine is suing over fake covers the rappers used to promote their record.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ Hip Hop, Drake and 21 have been promoting “Her Loss” by posing on what appears to be a legitimate Vogue cover, leading fans to believe the company would release the limited edition soon – some media outlets even reported on the issue.

Condé Nast, which owns Vogue, says that isn’t the case… despite Drake publicly thanking the brand and editor-in-chief Anna Wintour for receiving a blessing.

Condé Nast claims Vogue and Anna “have not endorsed [“Her Loss”] in any way”… and have repeatedly requested that all promotions using the Vogue name be removed, but nothing has been done.

According to the documents obtained by TMZ, the rappers falsely promoted the Vogue collaboration on social media and displayed posters of the “cover” in major cities.

Condé Nast also claims that Drake and 21’s teams sent out an email blast about “celebrating Drake’s Vogue cover,” with street teams across the country handing out copies.

The documents also entail that, people on the street allegedly obtained the fake magazine, and many claim it’s a direct replica of Vogue, complete with a fake photo of Anna posing with Drake.

Condé Nast wants a judge to immediately stop the use of the Vogue mark… and it wants at least $4 million in damages.

TMZ reached out to Drake and 21 Savage for comment, but have yet to hear back.
