EXCLUSIVE: Start Up Capital’s Justine Kiska reflects on her entrepreneurial journey

After founding her holding company early this year, Start Up Capital together with the Kiska Group, businesswoman, Justine Kiska recently sat down with Entertainment SA’s sister publication to share her progress.

Kiska exclusively tells this website that the Kiska Group has gone through massive growth and development as they have forged partnerships with various companies.

Currently operating in a city also known as the economic hub of South Africa, Johannesburg, the brainy entrepreneur says moulding young South Africans is her mission and that is why Start Up Capital is her favourite project.

Having gone through trials and tribulations as a businesswoman, the young and driven Kiska reveals that she is confident the South African business space has the potential to empower more youths.

ESA: As a follow-up on the recent interview with you, how are things? I am certain there is good news as far as progress is concerned.

JUSTINE KISKA: The Kiska Group has since expanded and formed alliances with a variety of businesses, bringing with it a more comprehensive understanding of our economic impact. Entrepreneurship, insurance, technology, digital marketing, the jobs sector, logistics, and investments are all areas where we have contracts.

ESA: That’s interesting and I understand you provide assistance or we can call you a mentor….

JUSTINE KISKA: My favourite project has to be Start Up Capital since it is so important to me. Being an entrepreneur has not been an easy trip for me. I want to provide assistance in all the battles, rejections, hurt, and difficulties I had to deal with the hard way when I first started out. Since then, I’ve been inspired to launch a program where younger start-ups can freely receive mentorship, assistance, and their most pressing needs to support themselves financially.

ESA: You mentioned that you have young and upcoming businessmen and women that you are busy training…tell us more about what the training entails?

JUSTINE KISKA: The curriculum includes business strategy, marketing, and industry leaders who educate and inspire our entrepreneurs, as well as opportunities for our young business owners to pitch their ideas to investors. The training takes a comprehensive approach to entrepreneurship. The Program is about the human, not simply the business aspect.

Starting a business can be highly personal; you represent your company as a reflection of who you are as a person. As a result, it’s common to take failure personally, feel depressed when goals are not met, or feel like giving up when sales are not achieved. It is a path that calls for fortitude, tenacity, assistance, and patience.

The program, therefore, goes beyond teaching the basics of business and also considers the physiological components of running a business while nurturing the inner workings, your thinking, emotions, and perseverance.

ESA: How did they respond to the training and how is their progress so far?

JUSTINE KISKA: We have so far been giving our entrepreneurs all the legal tools they need to establish official, registered businesses for them. Our company, Start Up Capital, has accepted responsibility for assisting with all the compliance needed by our business owners. The next phase will be to give each of our entrepreneurs access to websites and marketing resources that will help them expand their companies and have a more positive impact on the economy. The six-month program will come to a close in the following year, at which point we will be able to tell you how our business owners got started and where they are now.

ESA: Briefly give us more information on Start-Up capital, is it part of the Kiska Group? Your entrepreneurs, in which fields or sectors of the economy are they focusing on?

JUSTINE KISKA: Yes, Start Up Capital is regarded as a subsidiary of The Kiska Group Pty LTD. Ilhaam Amod – Company: Fitzee a health and wellness Brand, Cole Solomons – Company: CS a Sporting Professional Athlete training service, Kaelin Karriem – Company: TIPPS a Sports Training Program, Kathy Hill – Company: CK a Meal Prepping and Cooking Service, Cheslin Karriem – Company: CKs Transfers – Transportation and Logistics service, Thato Kekane – Company: Thato Personal Care – Beauty and Self Care Products. Our entrepreneurs are concentrating on a wide range of businesses, including athlete programs, and logistical services. personal care items, and health and wellness goods.

ESA: As someone who has vast experience in the business world, what are your expectations from your proteges or entrepreneurs after the training programme?

JUSTINE KISKA: All of our entrepreneurs should be fully operational, legally compliant small enterprises where they can interact with customers, generate their own revenue, advertise their services, and have a good social impact. The ability to maintain consistency in their business operations while also being able to fend for oneself is the ability that I am most passionate about imparting to my students. Making your own money in the modern world might help you gain the confidence to rely only on yourself. This is the principle and skill that can have you survive anywhere.

ESA: Surely, you must be delighted as you are participating in nation building…how do you feel about bringing change into their lives?

JUSTINE KISKA: It is an honour for me to be able to inspire new entrepreneurs; it is my passion and it developed out of a desire to prevent the next generation from becoming disheartened when things don’t go as planned. When I first started out, I didn’t have a strong support system and looking back, I wish I had. However, since I didn’t, I am now able to fill that role for someone else, which makes me very happy.
