Orlando Pirates seems to be the busiest club in the DStv Premiership as they signed AmaZulu skipper Makhehleni Makhaula and released Zakhele Lepasa.
Lepasa joined SupeSport United on loan and his departure comes as the club just announced the arrival of Cameroonian striker Souaibou Marou who was unveiled last week.
Pirates headed to social media and announced the news via social media and an official statement was also posted on the club’s website on Tuesday.
While Makhehleni was key for Usuthu, he arrives at the Soweto giants to join and compete against a fellow Randfontein player, Ben Motshwari and he expressed delight in the move.
“I am so happy to have signed for one of the biggest clubs in the country. It’s a dream come true for me,” said the 33-year-old.
“I am looking forward to meeting up with my new teammates and helping the Club move towards reaching its objectives.
“As I begin a new chapter in my career, I cannot do so without paying homage to my former club. To the entire board, the technical team, my teammates, and the supporters of Usuthu, thank you all for everything you have done for me.”
At the same time, the 26-year-old Lepasa struggled for regular game time since the arrival of Kermit Erasmus from Mamelodi Sundowns early in the season.
Looking at his contribution, the Soweto-born player made 13 appearances for the Buccaneers this campaign, scoring one against TS Galaxy and providing an assist.
This is coach Gavin Hunt’s second signing during this transfer window following the capture of Mamour Niang last week.

“Sad thing about des deals is that we never get players from Supersport. When their players are available the first call they make is to Sundowns. Going forward let’s be clever on who we conduct business with manene.”
@Thabo Ramohapi posted:
“I have always been saying that Lepasa will disappear like Excellent Walaza. He’s been given a chance but failed to rise to the occasion. However, I will never forget the penalty he scored in the 2019 Nedbank Cup final against Kaizer Chiefs.”
@Phuthi said:
“It will be a great competition between him, Timm, Manare, Mosele, and Motshwari and I foresee him being a regular. Way better than Timm on all levels.”
@BonganmiPeterRo commented:
“Makhehlene Makhaula welcome home my brother, please please know that we have your back & you’d be doing us proud with the rest of the boys. Welcome, Bhakabhaka. Shalom-shalom.”
@Seer Kwame reacted:
“Mkhehlekhehle has landed, let’s wait & see what he has in store for us. Welcome, Buccaneer.”
