Word-reaching Entertainment SA is that Gomora is set to part ways with Siphesihle Ndaba who plays the role of Mazet.
Media reports in Mzansi suggest that the executives decided not to retain the talented actress because her character was just dull.
Per a report by SurgeZirc, Ndaba will leave the Mzansi Magic production at the end of the current season.
This comes as producers felt her character “lacked enthusiasm” in the play as the publication quoted various sources close to the developments.
One of the sources told the website that Ndaba is a gifted thespian: “Don’t take me wrong, she is a brilliant actress, but she lacked something for the show.”
Additionally, another source close to the scriptwriters says she lacked enthusiasm and no longer had the energy she came in with at the start of the show.
“When she joined the show, she won the hearts of the viewers with her enthralling performances as Mazet, but she no longer has that thing,” the source revealed.
The producers tried a few attempts to revive the character and thought changing her outfit would provide a new dimension, but nothing seems to work, “They put her in a relationship but there was no range of emotions, and this was the last option,” added the source.
“Before landing the role as Mazet on Gomora Ceecee was cast in a lot of theatre productions. She will go back to the theatre,” indicated the informer.
Remaining with Gomora a film set up in Alexandra, ESA posted that another South African has been recognised for her role in the arts and entertainment space and that is none other than Thembi Seete.
The singer-cum-actress has been awarded with an Africa Choice Award for Best Female Movie Star.
According to her social media post, Seete says she has finally received her accolade from Nigeria as she wrote on Instagram.
