Gabrielle Union just published a video in which she demonstrates how she uses positive affirmations to instill self-esteem and confidence in her 4-year-old daughter, Kaavia!
On Monday evening, the actress shared an Instagram photo of herself and her small daughter standing in front of a mirror.
“Tell me what you love about your hair,” Union says to Kaavia. In response, the 4-year-old says, “OK. “I love my beautiful hair.”
The mother-daughter team then exchanges positive affirmations that encourage them to appreciate their “full lips,” “beautiful skin,” and eyes.
Gabrielle emphasises the importance of Kaavia’s intelligence, sense of humour, silliness, and courage in addition to educating her to love and accept her looks. She did, however, make sure to inform her kid that it’s okay to be “scared sometimes.”
As Gabrielle Union asked Kaavia to accept her “worthiness,” the 4-year-old concluded the affirmations exercise by exclaiming, “I’m so beautiful!”
It’s also worth noting that Union’s video was labelled, “It starts at home.”
Since we’re on the subject, Gabrielle Union’s stepdaughter, Zaya Wade, recently addressed a crucial life lesson she received from her mother.
As previously reported by The Shade Room, Zaya’s comments came during a recent interview with Dazed, during which she said that Gabrielle actively taught her that beauty comes from inside.
“The lesson has changed over time, but more recently it’s that beauty is in yourself. It’s about being you and expressing yourself the way you want to.”
The Bring It On actor also taught Zaya that “beauty standards are arbitrary” and “don’t mean anything,” according to Zaya. Gabrielle Union also made a point of teaching Zaya that “being [herself] is the best technique out there.”
“She tries to teach me that beauty standards are arbitrary and that they don’t mean anything. They don’t matter any more; what people thought was the standard is not. And just that being myself is the best technique out there.”
