Caster Semenya is finally ready to tell her truth through memoir

For so many years Caster Semenya has shun the spotlight, but now she is ready to open up of her experience as an intersex woman and how that has been affecting her professional career.

South African runner’s has been under a lot pressure before because her body that produces a naturally higher amount of testosterone, has undergone sex verification testing and taking hormonal medication.

Taking to her Instagram, the Olympic gold medallist shared a look at the cover her book titled The Race To Be Myself. The memoir will be released on the 31st of October 2023.

Caster shared on the post that her hope is that by finally telling her truth, she will inspire others to be bold, unafraid, and most importantly, to love and accept themselves as they are.

“This is my offering from me to you.” – Semenya added.

Here are a few things that we can expect in Caster Semenya’s memoir:

  • Going through a sex test after the World Championships to determine whether or not she was a female
  • Documents that were leaked revealing that she was born intersex and assigned female gender at birth
  • Being forced to take hormonal medication to suppress her natural testosterone
  • Her marriage to fellow runner Violet Raseboya and life with their two children.
