“Legendary”: Dj Sbu showers Somizi Mhlongo with praise

Veteran South African deejay and businessman DJ Sbu has showered Somizi Mhlongo with praise, saying he is the ‘God’ of Mzansi entertainment.

In a recent video clip posted on YouTube, Sbu said Mhlongo’s longevity in the showbiz sector is inspiring to many.

Sbusiso Leope who owns an energy drink brand, Mofaya said Mhlongo has endured hardships in his career that has lasted for decades and praised him for managing it and remaining relevant.

He said he doesn’t think a lot of the youngsters born in the 2000s understand the difficult years Somizi has had to go through.

Furthermore, Leope also a musician, said Somizi grew up in the industry after making his name during the days of Sarafina!, adding that Somizi’s mother, and father are legendary and the Idols SA judge is a legend on his own.

“Somizi is royalty when it comes to South African entertainment, whether you are talking presenting, television, performing, reality shows,” he said.

“Somizi has done it all. There isn’t anything Somizi has not done in this industry. Somizi is the god of the South African entertainment industry, and he’s not going anywhere.”

Per TshisaLIVE, Somizi has been candid about the obstacles he’s faced throughout his career as a child star to being a veteran in the entertainment space.

He documented his journey in his book Dominoes: Unbreakable Spirit, recalling being broke and some of his blunders making headlines in the local media space.

As he was dealing with his relationship with ex-hubby Mohale Motaung, Somizi was urged to excuse himself from the Metro FM mic in 2021.

After some time off the radio, he made his return to the SABC radio station this year to form part of the 9am to 12pm The Bridge show together with Quinton “Naked DJ” Masina and Khutso Theledi.

On the other hand, the controversial celebrity also hosts The Weekend Breakfast Sounds Good with Mat Elle between 6am and 9am.

In a recent post, Entertainment SA reported that Mhlongo’s reality TV show Living The Dream With Somizi is back for a brand new season, and his ex-husband Motaung had what seems like a sarcastic reaction.

Commenting on 1 Magic’s trailer for the new season, Mohale took Twitter to share the channel’s tweet with a GIF that basically reveals how he feels: “Oh no, again!”
