Controversial kickboxer and internet personality Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan Tate have been charged with rape, human trafficking and forming an organised crime group to sexually exploit women by a Romanian judge.
On Tuesday, 20th June, the prosecutors announced the matter, according to Washington Post.
It is said that the Tate brothers formed an organised criminal group in 2021 to commit human trafficking in Romania, the US and the UK.
They used love and marriage to attract their victims.
According to prosecutors, at least seven women were “sexually exploited” and exposed to “violence and mental coercion.”
According to BBC News, the trial will not start immediately and might take years, and the Romanian judge has 60 days to go through the case files before it can be sent to trial.
The Tate brother’s media team said, “While this news is undoubtedly predictable, we embrace the opportunity it presents to demonstrate their innocence and vindicate their reputation.”
It added that the indictment “allows us to present a comprehensive body of evidence, diligently collected and prepared over time, which will undoubtedly substantiate the brothers’ claims of innocence”.
Andrew Tate seems confident and went on a rant on Twitter.
