China’s Divers Maintain Dominance with More Gold at World Championships

Chinese divers continued their dominance at the world championships in Japan on Monday, winning two more gold medals to bring their total to seven out of seven victories. Chang Yani and Chen Yiwen won the women’s 3m synchronised springboard event, while Lian Junjie and Yang Hao won the men’s 10m synchronised event.

China’s diving team has been unstoppable, having won every diving gold medal at the previous year’s world championships in Budapest, and they have kept their perfect record in the current tournament in Fukuoka, Japan.

Chen, who now has four world championship gold medals, stated that she prefers paired events because they give her a “sense of security.” She attributed the team’s success to the unwavering support they receive from their coaches, saying, “The Chinese team is strong because we get a lot of support from our coaches.” They have been encouraging us for many years.”

Chang and Chen finished first with a score of 341.94, beating out Britain’s Scarlett Mew Jensen and Yasmin Harper with 296.58 points and Italy’s Chiara Pellacani and Elena Bertocchi with 285.99.

Lian and Yang won the men’s 10m synchronised event with a total score of 477.75 points. Ukraine’s Oleksii Sereda and Kirill Boliukh finished second with 439.32 points, while Mexico’s Kevin Berlin Reyes and Randal Willars Valdez finished third with 434.16 points.

On the second day of the championships in Fukuoka, the Chinese divers continued their outstanding performance by winning two more gold medals. Peng Jianfeng won the men’s 1m springboard event, and Chen Yuxi and Quan Hongchan won the women’s 10m synchronised event later in the evening.

Peng, who is 28 years old, acknowledged that he is getting older and praised the younger divers for their outstanding abilities. Peng, who reclaimed the world championship title he won in 2017, emphasised the importance of putting in extra effort to compete with the younger generation of divers. He stated, “The younger divers are even stronger.” My ability deteriorates, so I have to exert more effort than younger divers to compete with them.”

Peng took first place with 440.45 points, followed by Mexico’s Osmar Olvera Ibarra in second place with 428.85 points and China’s Zheng Jiuyuan in third place with 418.30 points.

Chen and Quan successfully defended their women’s synchronised 10m title, scoring 369.84 points. Andrea Spendolini Sirieix and Lois Toulson of the United Kingdom finished second with 311.76 points, while Americans Delaney Schnell and Jessica Parratto finished third with 294.42 points.

China’s dominance in the world championship diving competitions demonstrates their exceptional talent and dedication, as they continue to produce outstanding divers who excel on the global stage.
