Vampire Facials & Botox Injections Linked to HIV Infections at New Mexico Spa

Vampire facials have been linked to HIV infections.  According to the New Mexico Department of Health, a VIP Beauty Salon and Spa, Albuquerque Spa have been linked to HIV infections. The health department is reaching out to former clients of Albuquerque.

On July 5, the DOH published a report for anyone who received “any type of injection-related service” at the spa. It urged them to go for “free and confidential HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C lab testing and counseling.”

The person who is possibly infected is someone who received a “vampire facial or Botox injections.”

According to PEOPLE, a vampire facial utilizes a client’s blood reinserted into their face to “refresh” the skin’s appearance.

As part of the investigation, the state health provided testing to more than 100 spa clients and urge former clients to retest even if the first results came back negative.

Dr. Laura Parajon, Department of Health deputy secretary, said in a news release, “It’s very important that we spread the word and remind people who received any kind of injection-related to services provided at the VIP Spa to come in for free and confidential testing.”
