AmaZulu coach unhappy with referees over last night’s loss to Sundowns

AmaZulu head coach Pablo Franco Martin expressed disbelief following his team’s 1-0 loss to Mamelodi Sundowns on Wednesday night, as they were denied what appeared to be a valid goal. In the league encounter against the defending champions, a draw seemed warranted, but Hendrick Ekstein’s 65th-minute goal was disallowed for offside.

Despite the narrow margins, television replays revealed that the attacking midfielder was marginally onside, warranting the benefit of the doubt from the linesman who raised his flag.

Martin, visibly upset, commented on the officiating at King Zwelithini Stadium, stating, “Tomorrow in the newspapers and on the league table, it will say that we lost the game 1-0, but today AmaZulu beat the best team in Africa, yet four people decided otherwise.”

Criticizing the perceived unfair treatment his team has faced, Martin added, “If you watch our games, it’s about time that someone says something about how unfair and badly treated we are. Again, we played against the best team in Africa, and we should have beaten them, but four people decided the opposite.”
