The South African music community is mourning the passing of former YFM DJ Mulo Hlungwani, whose battle with cancer came to an end in his Bryanston residence.
The news of his passing spread across various social media platforms over the weekend, prompting numerous tributes and condolences. The DJ’s family officially confirmed his passing through a released statement, expressing deep sadness at the loss of the beloved Nhlamulo.
“On the morning of December 16, 2023, he peacefully departed at his home in Bryanston after bravely battling cancer. Recognizing that he touched many lives and brought boundless joy to those around him, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming love, support, and prayers that have been showered upon us,” the family statement read.
Several months ago, he courageously shared his cancer diagnosis with the public, revealing the journey that began with inexplicable abdominal pain.
“I initially experienced excruciating abdominal pains, mystifying the doctors in their search for answers, a moment I celebrated around the same time last year on my birthday. However, as months passed, I began losing significant weight, struggling to eat, and witnessing a decline in my overall health. Subsequent tests in October last year confirmed my battle with cancer,” DJ Mulo had disclosed.
Mulo leaves behind a son and a wife, Ntokozo Molefe.
