We are already in the summer time, which means somewhere somehow, we are going to face some heat rash or skin tanning or sunburn. We’re used to the traditional remedy for that, sunscreen! Well, Serena Williams doesn’t necessarily disagree, but definitely has a unique choice for her skin.
The American Tennis champ has suggested a very strange and different remedy for sunburn for anyone to try; breast milk.
Taking to her TikTok account, Williams shared how putting on some breast milk on a sunburn works wonders. That is very different and unconventional, but because its Selena who spends most of her time playing in the sun, you just have to believe it.
In the short video clip, Williams shared that she suffered an under eye burn after applying a retinol product and going out into the sun. While laughing, she said: “I have sensitive skin, so I was in the sun, long story,”
She captioned her post by writing: “Ok is this totally weird??? I have to say after a week of using MY breast milk under my eye – it worked! I’m dying to hear your thoughts. Be nice lol ????.”
In the video she continues to say: “Anyway, I’m trying some breast milk. It works for my kid, like they say, ‘put breast milk on everything’, and I have a lot extra, so I’m going to try for like a week or so under my eye and see how it goes.”
What Selena is doing, is not necessarily uncommon though, because according to a 2011 study, “Growth factors and cytokines in breast milk as related to infant growth and development” proposed that the growth factors present in breast milk may contribute to wound healing.“
Applying breast milk to minor cuts or wounds has been suggested as a traditional remedy in various cultures.
