Kenyan media personality Elsa Majimbo has made headlines this week and she has been topping up the trends lists after detailing her strained relationship with British supermodel Naomi Campbell in a now-deleted TikTok video.
Elsa revealed that initially, she really admired Naomi as her role model and back in 2020, she discovered that the supermodel was in Nairobi on vacation. The TikTok sensation says she reached out and they linked up, with Naomi even taking her shopping and inviting her on vacation. During their time together, Naomi suggested that Elsa make a documentary about her journey in Kenya and breaking into Hollywood.
With that being said, apparently their relationship took a turn when Elsa independently produced a documentary about her experiences with discrimination without informing Naomi. This decision upset Naomi, who felt excluded and confronted Elsa about it. Despite Elsa’s attempts to clarify that it was not the documentary Naomi suggested, the supermodel remained displeased and their communication deteriorated.
Elsa later realized the impact of the fallout when she spoke with Edward Enninful, the then-editor of British Vogue, at an event. She sensed that her dispute with Naomi might have led to her being blackballed in the fashion industry.
In a deleted tweet, Elsa expressed the difficulty of discussing the situation but emphasized her desire to break free from someone else’s influence. Shockingly, she revealed that her fallout with Naomi contributed to her depression and alcoholism at the age of 19, saying: “From 19 years old too. She made me an alcoholic and full-blown depressed. It’s now time to heal and be happy.”
Naomi has replied by posting a video that has snippets of herself and Elsa having great times together on her Insta stories, and “trusting God” to defend her.
