Rita Dominic, the Nigerian actress and producer, has shared her journey of transitioning from stardom to becoming a caregiver in London, United Kingdom.
During her address at the Women of Valour Conference in Ghana, Dominic revealed that she took a break from her acting career in 2002, a period she described as dark.
Her decision to step away from acting and leave Nigeria was influenced by personal struggles that led to strained relationships with friends.

“I had these issues, and I just fell out with some friends I considered family, and I needed to get out of that space for a minute,” she explained.
Moving to London, Dominic found herself in a position where she needed to make ends meet. She started working in a care home, providing support to adults with special needs. Despite the challenges she faced, Dominic found joy in her role as a caregiver, especially as she had previously cared for her parents during their illnesses.
While some may perceive her shift in career as a downgrade, Dominic sees it differently. She believes that caring for others brought her joy and purpose, especially during a challenging period in her life.
Throughout her career, Rita Dominic has delivered outstanding performances in numerous films, earning her multiple awards and accolades.
