Kylian Mbappe scores big for PSG

Kylian Mbappe’s incredible goal for PSG against Real Sociedad was struck with such power that it tore a hole in the net. The French star smashed the ball across the goal, burying it in the far corner during their 2-1 victory over the LaLiga side. Replays showed that the shot appeared to rip part of the netting away from the goalpost.

Following the goal, there was a delay of three-and-a-half minutes while the net was fixed before the last-16 second leg resumed. Mbappe, the French World Cup winner, sprinted into the left-hand side of the penalty area before firing a shot into the far corner from a tight angle that goalkeeper Alex Remiro couldn’t handle.

Mbappe scored again just before the hour mark as PSG advanced 4-1 on aggregate, with Mikel Merino only managing a late consolation for Real Sociedad. Mbappe has been substituted in PSG’s last two league games, with some speculating that this is due to his desire to leave the club at the end of the season.

He watched the second half of PSG’s draw with his former side Monaco from the stands after being taken off at half-time.

Kylian Mbappe scored his 34th goal in 33 games this season, aiding PSG in advancing to the quarter-finals of the Champions League.
