Award-winning actress Brenda Ngxoli is stepping into the spotlight once again, but this time, as the host of the prestigious South African Traditional Leaders Awards (SATLA). The event, set to take place at the East London ICC on February 22, marks a significant professional milestone for Ngxoli, who has been receiving an overwhelming wave of public support following her recent candid revelations about her personal struggles.
Ngxoli recently made headlines after opening up about her tumultuous family history, sharing painful details of abuse she allegedly endured at the hands of her mother. Despite the emotional weight of her revelations, fans and supporters have rallied behind her, showing immense solidarity.
SATLA organizers took to social media to announce the big news, posting: “Meet our Beautiful Program Director of the South African Traditional Leaders Awards ::: Brenda Ngxoli!!!! Owethu u Thixo unjalo masidibaneni e Monti e ICC nge 22 February!!!”
The past few weeks have been anything but easy for the beloved actress. In a deeply personal video, Ngxoli confronted her mother, addressing accusations of neglect and false claims of assault.
“Beat me! You are used to doing this; even the defamation of character that you keep doing, I will open a case,” she stated as her mother, holding a stick, accused her of abandonment.
Ngxoli’s firm stance on setting boundaries sparked an outpouring of support from fans, who praised her bravery in speaking out about family trauma.
Support for Ngxoli has gone beyond words of encouragement. Digital creator Mandisi Tshingana successfully raised over R100,000 for the actress, while Ferguson Films generously donated R50,000. Businesswoman Zandiswa Msikinya also contributed R10,000 and offered pampering sessions and professional photoshoots to boost Ngxoli’s portfolio.
Somizi Mhlongo, a fellow industry icon, joined the movement by urging promoters to book Ngxoli for more gigs. Taking to Instagram, he wrote: “Can the spirit of BOOKED AND BUSY locate this talented queen. Promoters. Corporate etc do your thing…”
Congratulations Brenda!
